You should know the amount of pain caused by a TMJ syndrome when you are affected by it. The short form of temporomandibular joint is TMJ.
It doesn't allow opening the mouth fully which is annoying.
And it is very hard to eat, talk and yawn.
The inflamed neck joint form jaw to skull causes severe pain.
In many situations the TMJ pain is caused by the high pressure to the jaw which cannot withstand it.
Because of the pain most of them lose control. There is no need to panic. The pain will go when proper rest is taken. There is nothing to worry.
Those who have the symptoms of TMJ have to note that there is a cure to the pain. By doing exercises is one way by which it can be cured.
Keep the web of your hand in between the forefinger and the thumb after sitting in a high back chair and keeping your head adjacent to the chair.
The movement of the lower jaw triggers the movement inside the mouth. So the lower jaw is moved by pressing the head back smoothly by using the chin.
Continue this exercise more 5 times. The pain will reduce by doing this exercise regularly many times in a day.
There is another exercise which is like the same as the first exercise in terms of its starting position.
Even though the starting positions are identical the second exercise demands to stay quite in a position in which one has to hold his jaw alongside his hand for at least 5 seconds.
Similar to the first exercise return to the starting position and do the same for few more times. The third is to relax by moving the lower jaw from side to side.
The TMJ syndrome can also be seen in terms of posture. A good posture doesn't create any negative influence on the TMJ.
You should believe this. Wrong postures results in bad alignment of the body and leads to TMJ syndrome in neck, back and shoulder.
To check about the status of the posture you can stand in front of a mirror and compare your two arms to find whether they are equal in length and whether the shoulders are of same height.
Next note whether your head turns a little towards one direction. Complicated problems arise if any of the above said non adaptability adjustments exist.
A good posture will make the TMJ syndrome pain to disappear in the long run. A good posture achieved by taking proper steps in back correction to a straight position and also making the chin to point steadily upwards.
The posture can also be adjusted to positions which results in a comfortable TMJ by doing yoga.
By dealing with the pressure point that exists in between the thumb and the index finger with the help of acupressure can helpin handling TMJ syndrome
This point when pressed with the thumb with the help of holding the hand with the other hand for one minute will reduce the pain.
