Usually Heartworm affects dogs but sometimes cat are also diagnosed with this disease. Generally the blood vessels leaving and entering the heart and the chambers of the heart gets infected by this worm. Heartworm is caused by a parasitic roundworm known as Dirofilaria immitis. It is potentially a fatal disease.

Heartworm is transmitted in the dogs by the larvae of mosquito during the process of its feeding. Then the larvae migrate to the heart and there they grow into adult worms. An adult female worm reproduces to microscopically small worms which remain circulating in the blood stream of dog.

The symptoms of heartworm are not fixed. They are of variable nature. With higher worm burdens the symptoms of heartworm becomes more severe. In mild cases very minimal signs may be observed like chronic etc. In moderate cases some more symptoms may be observed like difficulty in exercising, coughing etc. In severe cases lots of symptoms may be observed like weight loss, tough breathing, coughing, difficulty in exercising, collapse/fainting, accumulation of fluid in the abdomen and legs. Immediate treatment is necessary as it damage extensively the blood vessel, kidney, liver, lungs and heart. If the severe cases of heartworm are left untreated it may result into death also. So treatment in time is necessary.

A complete natural worm remedies are available which are equally good as worming tablets which are conventional. These natural worm prevention and treatment remedies will not harm your pet at all as they are completely natural worm treatments.

For effective and healthy expulsion of intestinal parasites like tape worm, round worm and heartworm, 100% herbal remedy is formulated which is known as Parasite Doctor. It is especially made for this purpose only. For its preparation special herbs are chosen which are having the property of bactericidal, antiseptic and anti parasitic. This herbal remedy helps to get rid off from this problem without having any side effect. Sometimes this herbal remedy is associated with the medication of synthetic parasites.

Treatment of the heartworm varies according to its severity and as recommended by veterinarian. When heartworm is in severe case resulting in the condition of heart failure then they must be given sodium restricted diet or you may give low salt diet. For few weeks exercises are also important along with medicines as it will help in killing the adult heartworm.

Mild and moderate case of heartworm can be treated easily but it is very difficult to treat the severe case of heartworm so regular test for heartworm is necessary.
