A serious and often deadly infectious disease of the small intestine, cholera is an epidemic diarrheal disease. It is a devastating disease and sometimes may lead to fatal results with intense vomiting and profuse watery diarrhea leading to dehydration. Cholera is a water-borne disease. When left untreated cholera generally has a high mortality rate. Cholera is a serious condition. A severe case of cholera can lead to death without immediate treatment.

Causes of Symptoms: -

The most obvious symptom of a cholera attack is diarrhea. You can also suffer from rapid dehydration, rapid pulse, dry skin, tiredness, abdominal and leg cramps, nausea and vomiting. Some of the basic symptoms which can be seen during the attack of cholera are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting and dehydration.

It may not be that serious disease but death can also occur due to the loss of fluid which causes dehydration and also loss of life. When such kinds of disease are left untreated then there is high rate of death. Sometimes the situation is so bad that death can occur within matter of hours. Your body plays host to this disease for nearly two to five days.

Causes of Cholera: -

Cholera is caused by a short curved, rod-shaped germ known as vibrio chlorate. This germ produces a powerful poison or end toxin. It is spread by flies and water contaminated by the germs. The real cause of the disease, however, is the toxic and devita1ised condition of the system brought about by incorrect feeding habits and faulty style of living. This condition facilitates invasion of cholera germs.

Home Remedies for Cholera: -

• One of the effective home remedy for reducing thirst is add one glass of cucumber juice with one glass of coconut water and take 30 to 60 ml of this mixture everyday.
• Onions are also beneficial in curing cholera. Take about 30 grams of onions and 7-10 black peppers. Grind this mixture and give it to the patient in 2 to 3 dose, per day.
• Cholera can also be treated by having a mix of water, sugar and salt. Take about 1 liter of boiled water and add 4 tsp of sugar and ½ tsp of salt. Intake this as many times as possible.
• Always give boiled water to the patient. Adding clove to the boiling water helps in decreasing the will of drinking water which is frequently arises to the patients.
• Lemon juice and orange juice also act favorably in treating cholera. Consume at least one glass of fresh juice on a daily basis.
• Diet for cholera - Food must be prepared in a proper hygienic manner. It should be hot when it is served. If it is allowed to stand at room temperature for several hours, microorganisms may attack and get seated there making it contaminated.
• Prepare a glass of fresh juice from cucumber leaves and mix it with a glass of coconut water. Consumption of this juice, in 30 to 60 ml doses, will relieve you off the disease.
• Another effective treatment would be to consume buttermilk. Add roasted cumin seeds powder and rock salt to it, for better results.
