The Importance Of The Hair Transplant In Celebrity Culture

In modern days it seems that the celebrities, in particular the men are now getting pretty comfortable with the thought of hair transplant surgery. It seems more and more famous men are embracing the concept and proudly showing off their results. It's a fact that a large majority of men will loose their hair so it is not something that people should be ashamed about. Yet most men do not have to rely on their looks for a living, so it is understandable why many celebrities feel even more pressure to look young, when growing older in the spotlight.

Recently celebrity hair loss has become a massive topic within the media, the demands to look young seems to be a huge interest. There has been lots of speculation at the hair lines of John Cleese, Mel Gibson, John Travolta, Kevin Costner, Johnny Depp, David Beckham and Jude Law. 'Mel Gibson hair loss' has large amounts of entries in Google, it is clear that the public are paying attention to who has had hair restoration therapy or a hair transplant.

It may be that many of these males are quite happy to age normally out of the spotlight but are realising that their looks are important to their fans. Often celebrities will go through plastic surgery and hair transplant procedures to satisfy all of the demands of a career within Hollywood. TV actors are also affected by this and also have youthful hairlines. But although that look may be suitable for an actor, these kinds of hair transplant surgeries may not be suitable for the average person. It would seem that actors and celebrities have to take compromises in order to achieve career goals.

In order to maintain this illusion that the rich and famous do not age, many cosmetic surgeons keep their famous clients very secret. For ordinary people it is very different, but it is rather interesting to see how people value looks and youth over perhaps, happiness. Not that there is anything wrong with getting a hair transplant, but how celebrities like to hide their entire aging process for the sake of their careers. Robert Bernstein an MD at Columbia University says that 'Though the public perceive celebrities as temperamental and demanding, I have not found that to be the case. Celebrities recognise the importance of cosmetic surgery to their careers and are very pragmatic about having done. For most it certainly goes with the job.'
