Understanding How Muscle Catabolism Affects Bodybuilders

Catabolism refers to the state in which the human body reverts to breaking down non-carbohydrates as sources of energy, in the absence of fats and carbs in the body. The body may decide to get the energy needed by the body from breaking down proteins or event the muscles. This is a natural chemical process in the body and helps meet energy demands placed in the body at times when the carb nutrients available are not adequate.

One key part of this negative chemical reaction that maybe of great importance to body builders is the one referred to as a glucose - alanine cycle. In the glucose - alanine cycle the BCAA's (primary amino acids) are basically stripped from your muscle tissues and transmitted inwards to the liver. In here, the BCAA's are immediately converted an amino acid called alanine. Alanine is then converted by the lifer to form glucose, the energy giving substance to muscles.

So one of the most effective ways of preventing catabolism is to consume adequate levels of naturally derived or supplementation of BCAA's. With the BCAA's, your body will not have to result to break down the muscle tissues in a bid to derive the energy needed in workouts. It woks so simply that it is easy to dismiss it as none entity theory. If you provide the body with enough energy giving nutrients at all times, then that is what it will use to meet the energy needs and not the long and inconveniencing process of breaking down your muscles.

There was a key research that was carried out by the School of Human Biology at the University of Guelph in Onterio, Canada. This research found out that the consistent use of BCAA's by body builders, reaching up to about 12 grams of the BCAA's, could rid the body of catabolic tendencies. It is important, according to this valid and authentic research, that a body builder eat up to 4 grams of BCAA's before, during and even after the workout. With adequate provision of BCAA's, there will be a significant reduction or even a complete elimination of the opportune muscle breakdown consequent to intense energy demands of the body.

Not only BCAA's are important in the fight against the tendencies of the body slipping into catabolism.
You should also supplement the intake of BCAA's with that of arginine. Arginine is another key and vital amino acid that is useful to a body builder's diet.

Some research findings that have been somewhat controversial indicate that arginine is the amino acid, which has an ability to raise the growth hormone levels to the highest rate achievable. What has been confirmed by the conventional dieticians however is that arginine is instrumental in the production of the human growth hormone.

Take note of this. The most credible research findings have irrefutably confirmed that when arginine is ingested as part of the bodybuilding diet in a large but safe dosage, and taken consistently, it is able to amplify or raise your growth hormone levels to more than a thousand percent levels, making hypertrophy seem like a miracle. Not only does arginine prevent catabolism, it also amplifies muscle growth.
